Chainmaille Bracelets

Here are the bracelets that I've completed...I've included links to the kits if you're interested in trying them for yourself...which I highly recommend if you're tired of stringing beads or working with seed beads that take hours and hours to complete...these pieces are nice and large, and you can get them done in a day or two (or maybe only an hour!)...I've got 3 more kits on order, and I'll show those when they are complete...can't wait!

"Mermaid Mesh" from Anne Mitchell

This bracelet was very difficult for me to begin, in a three hour time span I had about 6 rows complete...but once I took it apart and studied what I was doing wrong, I was able to complete nearly all of it in about 5 hours...another 3 the following day and it was complete...this thing feels SO fun, and I played with it during the 12 hour Lord of the Rings marathon..it kept me entertained...sometimes I'll just use it as a stress reliever while driving, its almost more fun to play with than to wear, but I sure do like wearing it too...

"Spiked Spiral" bracelet from Lisa Niven Kelly

I bought this kit after seeing the original at Bead and Button and realizing just how FABULOUS this bracelet really is...So Friday at our friends poker game, I opted to make this instead of losing money that I could instead use for more kits! I was able to get all the spirals finished, linked and the clasp attached before the end of the night (about 4 hours)...today I antiqued it and added the spikes, about another couple of hours...Overall I'm thrilled with the results, the jonquil satin crystals are my favorite - subtle but sparkly and gives the bracelet an elegant, dressed up feeling...I plan on making more of these, maybe larger spirals or something other than crystals, just to experiment...My left arm was fatigued yesterday from all the sprials (25 links, 2 spirals each link, do the math), but it feels fine today...

"Ancient and Italian" from Anne Mitchell

Now this little baby is a great way to begin making chainmaille...only took me an HOUR to finish this chain, its very simple, but 'frothy' and bouncy...I preferred the bright silver look for this one, so its not antiqued..the clasp came from ClaspOn..ClaspOff and its a bronze pearl that arrived pretty quickly after ordered...You could add charms to this one...

"Flat Mesh" from Anne Mitchell

My first kit, a little more difficult than the Ancients, but much easier than the Mermaid mesh, I was able to knock this one out at our friend's house in one evening..(3-4 hours maybe)...the last time you saw it, I hadn't antiqued it yet..I prefer the dark look (its been tumbled and polished for high relief) to the screaming bright silver that it was originally...A fun bracelet to make, a very bold presence when worn, I want to make a mini version for my fingers next...

more to come...stay tuned!
