Corina Class 2004

Corina
Tettinger Class January 2004
Location: (Austin, Tx) BlueMoon Glassworks
|

I tried to get a 'moment' shot of Corina talking to Jim Berry (store
owner and most wonderful store owner), but C caught me and smiled
for the camera...She's got 'camera radar' and she's good... |

These are my sidekicks...from left - Lydia, Dodie and Mick. We
try to take classes together and cause havoc when the teachers will
let us...We made a lot of noise in Sharon Peter's class, and tore
up Loren Stump's class. We knew Corina would be in for a two day
adventure packed day w/ the 4 of us in class...but she handled us
with no trouble. Over the two days, all 8 students were in trouble
with her at one point or another. I was 'lucky' enough to have water
poured down my back after making a snide comment...Oh yes, she's
good... |
|

"I can pull stringers in 1mm thicknesses any time I want"...So
says the master of stringer control...and she wasn't kidding. There
is a reason her beads are so small - she works with the tiniest
amts of glass and it goes just where she tells it to... |

Here is the secret to her stringer control - use the pivot grip
and 'move the effing bead'. We knew we loved Corina when that was
one of the first phrases out of her mouth... Welcome to Texas, now
sit down and move the effin' bead. Oh yeah, work on the right side
of the flame, in the 'residual' heat. And buy her book, and take
her class. All that helps too... |

One of our tasks was to create animals from names we drew from
a hat. I drew the bunny, and someone said 'do an elephant'. I
rather like his little forehead - its wrinkled...pure accident,
but I'll take it...I'm not known for my sculpture beads and I'm
sure I never will be...hee...
|

This is my cache of goods from the two days...I
can see some hope in these beads, and some disasters - but that's
what classes are all about...Most of my class beads from *any* class
are crapola...as long as you take away the techniques and put them
to use later, who cares what the class projects look like? |
