Pink flamingos

Austin has the phrase "Keep Austin Weird"..we like stuff that makes us laugh and keeps us a little off center...one of the 4 nurseries we visited yesterday is known far and wide in Central Texas as the 'Pink Flamingo' place...in the summer, they fill their front lawn with flamingos; in the winter its penguins...they have a lucious selection of flowering plants for hanging baskets - so much so that I had to leaven empty handed so I can go back with a plan of what I want/need...

I did manage to pick up some 'basic' asparagus and boston ferns, and 2 bouganvillia for a splash of color...i'll get more pics as today goes... we've even started a (very small) butterfly plant collection...more soon...

I know that garden place with all the plastic flamingos in the summer and is it penguins in the winter? On Bee Caves!!! It is a wonderful garden center, I bought a couple things there, back when we lived there. Can't believe we have been away for almost 3 years, seems like just a couple months, I sure do miss Austin. Thanks for posting that, those flamingos are a hoot!
