Harry Potter was a blast

Wow, I am totalled thrilled with this movie! If you enjoy the books, I hope you'd enjoy this movie too. Not much w/ the Dursleys (i don't think Dudley or the Mom even say anything!), only a small Quidditch (yea) More Snape (yea!) and Lupin and Sirius are great...And the kids look 'normal' not like action figures come to life in their perfect robes. They get dirty, they have 'normal' hair, they wear 'normal' clothes...

All the kids are MUCH better actors than they used to be, and Harry is on screen practically the entire time (course the movie is called "Harry Potter and...") I don't have kids, so I don't know a good age cut-off, but there were some 8-13 yr olds in our midnight showing (we got out at 3:00am, good thing this is the summer or they'd be sleeping through spelling today), but I didn't see them afterward to know if they were scared. I think the spiders from the LAST movie were scarier (and I LIKE spiders!, but those guys were really great, weren't they?)

Brian and I agreed we'd be going back to see it again when the hoopla dies down... but it was fun going to yet another Midnight screening...I of course had a hard time getting up this morning, but think I did pretty well to manage about 4 hours of sleep...I'll definitely be going to bed early tonight for my CLASS tomorrow...Tara Harris and Robyn Knapp are in town to soak up the sights (we have a Biker Rally in town this weekend...Harleys!) and melt as much glass as they can stand...I expect it to be an 'All-Glass All the Time' kinda weekend...

After class, on Monday I have an open studio day for my sidekicks (Lydia, Dodie and Mick) and then on Tuesday I will be back making Pickings and cracking down on the orders...the GOOD news is that I've actually completed a couple of orders already...how cool is that?

Okay, I'm a 1st time "commenter" here (I've been lurking!) but I just had to ask...how was it at the 1st showing? I'm not planning on seeing the movie until next week - hopefully by then I'll be able to get a good seat and people won't be talking to each other and/or on their cell phones through the entire movie! Hello...I want to be able to HEAR what the characters are saying!

well, we went to a midnight showing at a theater here in Austin that does not typically allow *any* kids under 18 in whatsoever - due to the fact that they serve beer/wine (and food - its the coolest theater!!). I was very surprised to see kids there at all, let alone at a midnight showing.

So, for us, it was great. Mostly college age folks and older, very quiet uber fans...I would imagine any 'regular' theatre in the country will have LOADS of screaming children over the weekend...BUT, we saw the other two movies w/ lots of kids and they were very quiet and acutally kinda cute - you could hear their reactions to the story and they'd get excited to see Dobby (ugh, thank god he's not in this one...ooh, hope I didn't spoil that for ya)...

I saw it last night too and it was awesome! I think this new director did a great job with the story. Of course after reading the books there are always little details that I wish were in the movies. With this one I wish they had included more about Harry's father's history, but considering it's almost 3 hours I guess they did the best they could.

Most of the midnight showing here was college age as well. Only a few younger kids with parents, I'm sure because of the hour. There was a little girl around six a few seats from me and she didn't seem scared at all. She reacted when things happened and it was really cute and not disruptive.

I had a super time and am paying for it today....yikes!

Donna~ Your Mystique lentils are gorgeous! If I had the extra money I would buy 'em! Since my BF got me a CBS for our Anniversary I have no excuse not to make my own! I have been practicing making lentils but since I have a hard time making round beads my lentils are coming out wonky... I mean, I just got good at doing the doughnut shape!! I just keep practicing away! I know eventually I will get it!

And you already saw Harry Potter!! I am so jealous! I haven't seen a movie in the theater since LOTR 3!! I wish we had a good theater around here... especially one that served beer & wine, and then I think the BF might actually go see Harry with me LOL...

Have an awesome weekend and enjoy your class!

Nicole, make your OWN lentils w/ your new tool...some folks use a 'lemon' shape before pressing, but a 'round' bead works better for me..not donut! make a wider footprint and add glass to each end so it looks like a wooden spool, then heat in the *middle* and you'll get a round bead. come down to Austin and I can show ya.. ;)

OOHHHHH!!!! I SO wanna come down so you can show me! Bah!! I need to be rich so I can travel and take beadmaking classes!!! I bought a Lotto ticket yesterday... the jackpot is 60 Million... I think that would do it LOL!!
