Where's the tootsie roll?
Have you ever opened a tootsie roll and pop it in your mouth and then wonder where it went? I just did that - I see the wrapper, but thought I had set the candy on the counter...I guess I ate it, but I don't remember...wow...
I made beads yesterday, oh yessiree...I did...but they won't be ready until tomorrow..that's right, tomorrow is the magic day...I've scheduled the BF to arrive tonight, i'm leaving chocolate donuts out on the table...she can smell those from 4 houses over...
Is it just me, or are there now eight gazillion beadmakers on eBay nowadays? Is everyone making beads now? I try not to troll eBay too often so I haven't been paying attention to what's going on...it kinda reminds me of when you're a freshman at high school and you know who everyone is in all the grades and by the time you're a senior, you only know the folks you're in classes with...I used to know all the beadmakers and now I'm an old fogey and can't keep up with them all...I think I just like being in my little space on the web and having ya'll come by to visit...its all good...

Hi Donna! I know what you mean about the zillions of beadmakers on eBay. When I got into beadmaking last November, I was really excited to be getting into something different and "unique".
Then, I found the beads for sale on eBay, and saw how large the beading community really was! Boy, was I wrong! (Discovering WetCanvas didn't help either...) :þ
I work at the Edward Jones corporate office, and there are even 3-4 women that work in my building who make beads! It's just a crazy bead-makin' world out there! :)
Have a great day!

There are lots of beadmakers out there Donna but that is what's so great about your work - it's in a class or category all it's own. I could spot one of your beads a mile away, where as a lot of the other artists I buy from do great work, but it's not as unique.

Hehehe ... Donna,
what about me ... did you see me in the crowd?!? I'm there ... with my jar full'o'beads ...
After reading the new SPOTLIGHT on "Marketing Lampwork Beads on the Internet" I was pretty much impressed ... seeing lines of history where there were (wew --- cool words in a row!) only 12 pages ...
I like the "Tootsie Roll Story" ... as I have to get up EVERY single night to eat some. SLEEP?!? Who needs sleep ... when there is something sweet waiting for you.
Well --- better get going to prepare myself for a cozy trip tonight. *pointing at SOME chocolate in the fridge* WANNA TRY?!?

that reminds me of a chocolate story I'll tell ya'll tomorrow...Petra, you come from the land of (or general area of) chocolate, and yet you tease us in the land of 'waxy, inferior' chocolate? How shameful..I must insist that you send some decadent delightful delicious chocolate to me right away, to make amends...about a pound should cover it...

Hey Donna
Yeah it seems these days everyone and their mother is making beads......BUT....only a small, teensy tiny handful of artists make PHENOMENAL beads.....YOU are one of the few, the proud, for sure.....LOL

Too many bead makers for sure...a few years ago I would troll ebay but now I have about 5 favorite artists and I just go to their sites!! You Miss Donna are one of my faves!!
I love your beads!!

I agree, you are in a special class. I have found that some beads don't live up to their pictures, kind of like that place in the Mall that can make anyone look like a model for a photograph. Yours however, continue to delight. Thanks

Donna, I agree with all the comments made - it is mind boggling to go into e-bay and look for beads. I too have discovered a few favorites (you included) and I only search for their beads when looking. Anyone willing to share some other favorites beside our Donna and Corina of course -- however most of you guys are outa my league once you get to e-bay. Good for you but bad for us on a budget. Thanks so much for your pickins otherwise some of us wouldn't have a chance to enjoy high quality beads like you produce.

This is for Gayle! I just set up a favorite search, which finds all handmade, lampworked beads (in the US). It brings back a lot of results, but allows you to see lots of different beadmakers' beads. Copy and paste this URL in your browser:

Hope that helps!
