It must be the rain...
I've been really busy of late, taking care of business, but not much beadmaking...so today its 'all beads- all day'...I wonder if the rain is making me lethargic...or maybe the lack of sleep is catching up with me...I dunno...but i'm up and moving and the kiln is firing up and i've got stringer pulled and ideas ready to go...I was hoping to have beads ready for you today, but sometimes it just doesn't happen...so lets shoot for tomorrow...no promises, as I don't know what will happen at the torch today (and I'm almost out of everything else I've made that was in backstock) but lets give it a try...No tv, no errands, no phone calls, just fire and glass...who's ready?

Good Morning!
Is the picture on the home page of the "shards" you use in that bead technique you learned in WA? They are interesting. Are you going to make some beads with those to show us? Thanks for all the inspiration. Take care and have fun at the torch today.

Yep, I learned to make the shards in Michael Barley's class (www.barleybeads.com) and I made 1 bead with them, but it was very subtle..I'll make more...Essentially how you use them is that you make a bead, and then lay a piece of shard on top of it - like if you were laying a piece of silver leaf onto a frame - the glass shard has a 'watercolor' effect to it, since the frits were all stretched and expanded during the bubble blowing process...so the colors are less intense and flow into one another easier...I'll see if I can get some made today so you can see the effect I'm talking about...

I'm ready...ready for a NAP! What is it about the rain that makes us so drowsy?? I'm impressed at your work ethic. I'll dream about it as I snooze this afternoon. ;-)
