Happy Valentine's Day

Its a beautiful day here this morning...But what i want to know is - where is our Valentine's Day Snow??

My birthday week is winding down, yesterday my present was a wireless printer connection..that might sound mundane to you, but i'm thrilled with it - it means I can undock my computer and print from wherever I might be working...I've actually had a need for this MORE times than you might think...

Over the weekend we ventured to a really cool yarn shop in South Austin and I picked up a couple of balls of yarn and some bamboo needles...so yesterday after my class I taught myself how to cast on some stitches (using the Knitty Gritty video) and I've got about 6 rows of somewhat badly knitted stitches on my needles...what do I have in mind for this knitted garment? nothing in particular, I'm just being slowly drawn into the world of knitting after Katie sent me the COOLEST scarf and I decided that perhaps I too could learn how to knit one...is this a slippery slope I'm falling down? I don't think so...my focus is on beads and not fibers - I used to stitch and bead and have done some rughooking (which I love) but nothing has grabbed a hold of me the way beadmaking has...so no, I won't be squirreled away knitting instead of melting glass...but it is fun to be trying out a new thing...Brian said he'd even take a knitting class with me next month...I need to learn what to do when I slide 4 stitches off the needle (besides rip the whole thing out which is what I did last night)...'its not what you can make, its what you can fix'...boy, truer words have never been spoken...

I've got pics to take and post, so I'll be back...shortly...I'm still waitin' for that snow!!

Oooooooh - Hill Country Weavers! I think the attraction to yarn is the same as the attraction to glass - for me, it's all about the colors and textures and combinations..... And, of course, it doesn't have to be a one-or-the-other thing - you can knit or crochet in places where you can't bead - the car (if you're not driving), the beach, the backyard, yadda yadda. Have fun!

That's not snow! Fairy dust! You want snow, my friend - come to West "by God" Virginia. We had snow this morning too. I have loved your pictures from Italy. It sounded like you had a great trip. Went to my fusing club meeting this past week and we passed around the latest Bead News from ISBG. You were in it! And I had the pleasure of saying I have many of your beads and proud to say I know you. I get so many nice comments about the last one - the focal bead. You're wrong, my friend. People like them just as much as sets. I always get great comments about the cone pendants.

Anyway, wanted to tease you about the snow (lack of). More pictures! Happy Valentine's Day.

Happy Birthday Donna & Warmest Blessings on your special day!

I just read your previous entry saying you were looking for an assistant, OH Man! This is probably the only time in my entire life I will ever say "I wish I lived in TX"!!! LOL
I am teasin' ya! :)~ Have you found anyone yet?

I love knitting!!!! My Mom is a fiber artist and she taught me. I agree with the person above who said something about color and texture... I love yarn!!! My Mom just sent me some of her GORGEOUS handspun yarn... I love her homemade stuff! I mostly knit hats and then felt them into bowls. I do scarves too but I like making hats/bowls better.

Big Hugs & Happy Valentine's Day!!
