And how is your week?

New Freebie beads are posted...

I had a great time at the show yesterday...It seemed kinda quiet to me, but folks outside in the booths said it was a good show for them...I think it was quiet for me cause the weather was fab and no one needed to take refuge inside the shop! plus there were two other torch working demos going on outside, so the 'exoticness' of me being inside was lost...haha...but its not like I was trying to sell anything, I was just inside having fun and goofing off...I made a few fish and focals and florals, pullled a buncha stringer and twisties, so I have lots of components to use here at home...the stuff I make during the demo is just cooled in a blanket, and because I like folks to see it, I leave it out and it cracks - why make somthing and hide it right away? who cares if it cracks, its not like I'm doing 'perfect' work...

so I'd rather people get to see the finished product right away rather than having to come back a half hour later to see it...I'm just funny that way, but if you spend 20 min watching something being made, don't you want to see the end result? I do!

The COOLEST thing about the show was meeting the scientific glassblower from Austin..he shared some top secret info with me that took him years to learn and we had a great time visiting..he's good friends with Doug Stanhope and he has been working on a torch since the early 60's...I've signed up for a class with him and he seemed to consider me a 'peer' after watching my little dog and pony show inside...He uses a lot of tubing, pyrex and metals - things that I don't know anything about - and I feel like he can open up a whole world of new techniques for me...Can't WAIT to get together with him, listen to his stories and learn as much as he's willing to teach me...
