Donna,

What a rough time for you! You are doing the right thing by focusing on your furry friend and letting the rest of life wait its turn. Just a year ago today I had to take our precious "Sunny Bunny", a 12 1/2 year old rescued greyhound in and let her go. We'd only had her 18 months (she'd been owned and abandoned previously) but how she made herself at home in our hearts in about 10 minutes. She got sick about 6 months after we got her and then recovered...sort of. Lasted another year with us and then it was taking too much of a toll on her. Dex will help you to know how much he can take. Pets have such wise eyes. And that term is so odd...they are family!

Take care of yourself.

Oh Donna, I am so sorry to hear about Dexter!! I understand completely what you are going through with a dear, beloved member of the family. I say member of the family because that's what they are - I don't think of them as pets. I went through some health problems with my own cat several years ago (respitory - Thomas was 15 at the time) and I know the feelings of being torn as to what to do for them and how draining it is on you. Hang in there girl! My prayers are with you and Brian and Dexter!
