Informal polls

I sent out an email to a few folks yesterday asking if I was missing out on the 'bead press' phenom...meaning, are there any bead shapes out there that I *really* need to be making...My favorite beadshapes are rounds and lentils, but there are a couple of press manufacturers who have all sorts of ovals, triangles, hexagons, squares, tabs, tiles, cubes and hearts that I can buy and squeeze my little glass into..I am pleased to say most everyone has agreed with me - they prefer the round and lentil shapes more than any others..(a few other shapes were mentioned, but not in a 'you must have this' kinda way)...

So, it looks like I'll be sticking with my current phase of round and lentil shapes with some cubes, barrels, hearts and misc shapes that don't require a press...If you ever spy something that you think I really need to be aware of, feel free to email and let me know..I do try to keep up with everything, but that doesn't mean I try to follow the trends..in fact, I prefer to try to blaze my own trails, not copy anyone directly of course, come up with my own color combos, my own bead style, etc...While trying to keep up, doesn't mean trying to follow the crowd...I just like to be aware of what's going on in the beadworld, and make my own decisions...that doesn't mean I won't buy a bead press that I really like (I ended up selling 8 or 10 of them at one point when I found I wasn't using them) and in fact I have a new tool on the way that will help me with some shaping (Letha convinced me that I need it) of barrels that have never been a strong suit for me...so sure, I will buy tools (tool ho that I am) and goodies as I see a need for them...I'm just glad to know that you like the round beads best, as that's what most folks tell me...

I also wanted to reply to Kathy James' question from the comments field from yesterday...she asked if I would be making more like the Pumpkin Patch that's on eBay at the moment...I've always said that "if you like something you see on eBay, you should buy it then cause you probably won't see it again..." that still holds true...I put stuff up on eBay that I think folks would like as unique and special sets...I was bombarded with requests to remake the Wild Wild West set when I put it on eBay, but I've never done it...and then I was bombarded with remorse emails from folks who never managed to bid on it...I don't remake stuff I put on eBay for a reason - its not fair to the folks who buy eBay sets to know that I will remake it for anyone who asks...the sets I put up for Pickins' are a different story, I have been known to remake those (although I'm not great at getting around to remakes as many of you know, so you don't always get those requests either)...Some beadmakers will remake eBay sets if asked, and that's fine for them...its always been my mantra not to do that, so you know what you buy is unique to you...I think that's fair...

Totally fair Donna! I do remember you mentioning that a while ago - I just forgot . . . got caught up in the beauty of the beads!

no worries, Kathy...i wasn't trying to give you a hard time, just thought you had a valid question that others might be asking and wanted to clear it up so everyone knew what my thoughts were about remakes of eBay sets...Sure, I might revisit the color scheme down the road, of course Fall colors are my favorite as we all know...and if other beadmakers are remaking the sets they list on eBay, that's their right to do that...I'm not judging anyone's decision, just 'splainin' why I do what I do...not everybody will agree with me and that's ok too...

No problem - I knew that's what your purpose was, I knew you weren't giving me a hard time! Its good to remind us now and then. Like I said, its easy to get caught up in the beauty of the beads! Have a great afternoon!
