The studio dervish has hit
Click the pic and the link below it to see larger versions of the new glass rod area...if you are a geek like me...
My studio looks like I set a bomb off in it - but then it looked like that already! The good news is, I spent a lot of time yesterday relocating my large collection of rods (not my backstock, its safely stored in a cabinet) that I use regularly...It used to be near the sliding glass door, and the dirt and dust would blow in and coat the rods, even with them hidden under yellow towels...
I spent hours moving each bundle into its new location, so now they sit very near me and they look fantabulous...I was able to spread out the colors a bit, giving some of the higer-used rods their own containers...You know what its like to have a clean room or space, you LOVE it...
Now its time to work on the table where the rods used to be located...That is where I'm setting up my silversmithing station, and currently its housing junk and lots of B&B mags that need to go into a bookshelf...I DO love to purge when the mood hits, and lemme tell ya, its here...bigtime...toss n toss n toss that junk...I've also found a bunch of PMC books that I'll be selling (they're really nice, but its just not my thing, I think), so look for those here...good deals and all...if ya'll don't want them, I'll eBay them instead...
But, I'm also in the mood to make beads when I feel like taking breaks...so we'll see...
Some of my tourmalines arrived via Fed Ex at 7:45am...yes, that's right..the doorbell rang at 7:45...very nice...needless to say, they left them nextdoor (I was up, but in the shower)...
And I have to make some trips to pick up some more silver for class..I've got some cool new things I'm working on, I hope to finish them tomorrow, we'll see...I think its time to get my torch cleaned out and set up so I can do homework here and use classtime for more instructional time...
Back with some pics soon...

Ahhhh, glass, marvelous glass! Even glass rods are cool, I think. Nice job organizing!
Hey, I should know all your cats by now...who is that hanging out in your studio?

Hey Miss R..
That is Amelie, aka ChumbaWumba...that box has an O2 regulator that I bought from someone on Wet Canvas in January...and I've never opened it! It arrived, I set it on the table, Amelie took it over and its been her bed eversince...I do move it when folks come over to play or for class, and most people don't get to see her on her box, but she's there quite a lot...some of the other cats sleep on it too, but it has her claw scratches in it - she fell asleep and fell off the table and grabbed the box on the way down, scratchin it up...i laughed so hard I could hardly breath...(she was fine)...

Hi,
Your rack looks great! I need to work on mine too. It is so nice to see all the glass lined up like that. But, would you share were you got that neat rack that holds the tubes? It's the perfect size for the tubes. How did they do that?

That big rack is actually a mail-divider that Brian brought home with him when the company he was IT director for went belly up during the Dot Com bustup..I dunno where it came from, there are no markings on it anywhere, but perhaps office supply places will have something like it...4 of the tubes fit in the sections perfectly w/ a little bit of room to spare...It was just dumbluck that it worked out that way, I didn't measure anything...which is par for me...

I'm impressed - great job! You've inspired me to get my own little studio organized! My sister got her hands on an old card catalog that one of the local grade schools was getting rid of and gave it to me for my studio. Fifteen drawers (five over three configuration). Its in great shape, nice galvanized steel drawer pulls and even little slots to put labels. Can't wait to get it filled with glass rods!
