Emerging from hibernation...
I'm back in the world of the living - had a nice few days of no computer, just football, roses and sunshine...its been crazy-warm here, in the 70's and 80's the past couple of weeks, and to keep the car in good working order, I've been zipping around in it...Feels like Spring, the caterpillars are eating so much that they completely stripped my butterfly weed, so I plucked a dozen or so (3 of the 4 monarchs had to go, I didn't have any food left for them to eat) and we dropped them off in the butterfly garden at Natural Gardner...although they don't have much to eat there, but I hope nature finds a way to get these guys some munchies...they picked the wrong time of year to be eating...
in fact, we've had loads of butterflies hatch from cocoons lately, and there isn't much for them to snack on...
the rest of my rose order should be arriving this week, Brian and I dug out 4 circles in the front yard and will plant them..I drew some new plans on our landscape blueprint (did I tell ya'll that I went to college to be a draftsman? yep), and I already know what plants are going where in the front...this weekend is plantin' weekend, indeed...
My smithing class started back up again, after a months hiatus, and I ended up being the only student there, so it was a wonderful personal class...some neat new ideas, some sources for copper sheet for my electroforming, and just fun visiting with the instructor...all in all a good day indeed..
I haven't checked emails yet, so if you haven't heard from me, that's why...I also had a printer malfunction, so printing labels was on hold till that was fixed, which it is (until I fire it up again - we shall see how long it stays fixed) so I'll get earrings and the like out to ya'll this week...
rock on, thanks for not forgetting about me and I'll be back with more groovy news as soon as something groovy happens - I'm sure you're tired of caterpillar news, but its the only thing happening right now, other than I'm experimenting with large lentils still, and looking for some cool color combos that I saw last night on HGTV...

Hi Donna--
Happy New Year! Sounds like you've enjoyed some R&R. And I don't mind reading about caterpillar capers (LOL)...that's actually more exciting than what goes on around here lately. Hey, hubby and I are going to the humane society shelter to look at adopting a kitty this weekend! And you're partially to blame...all the cute kitty pictures and stories here have been chipping away at me for a long time and I'm finally caving in. If we don't find a cat that feels like a good fit we may hold off. (may also end up with a second dog instead of a kitty...but I think a cat would add a cool dimension to our household). Wait til my dog gets a load of this! LOL.

Butterflies in your garden?! Wow... It's minus a gazillion here today (well, it seems that way!!), we went out to take the traditional New Year's family picture and we almost froze solid... Even the dog was in a hurry to get back inside, and she's a tough one!! Anyway, in 3 or 4 months (no kidding) it will be over and I'll see butterflies too! I'll be planning my garden in the meantime... My best wishes for a happy, bead-filled 2006 -- plenty of good things!

Happy New Year Donna! Wow, I thought California was the only place that had sun all the time, but you wouldn't know it lately! We've gotten some much needed rain, but I'm afraid too much now. At least it stopped for a while - its sunny but very chilly. It would be so nice to see butterflies right now - you're lucky! Its nice having other people in a class to share ideas with, but nothing beats having the teacher all to yourself! 2006 will be a great year!
