Who makes lip balm?

Anybody out there ever made your own lip balm? I was watching a show this morning where they did it, and I've seen Martha Stewart's lip balm kit, and read 'not Martha's website about her attempts at it, but have never tried it myself...all the teeny measurements seem daunting, I'm kinda a 'toss it in' kinda chick...I use Burt's Bees lip balm right now and love it, but I'm always up for this kind of homestyle crafty goodness and wondered if you have any clues as to where a GOOD place to get ingredients and balm pots might be...I thank you...
I'm enjoying the Bullseye I picked up yesterday, I made a few little beads with them and they are just different enough from Moretti to be interesting...a nice hue, a little brighter in some cases, a little dustier in others...the glass is a 90 COE, so its stiffer, and that makes for encasing w/ the clear a little tougher for me, I'm used to Moretti being very soupy and I use that to my advantage when encasing, but Bullseye doesn't get all soupy...challenges are good...

My new DVR is recording all the shows I've lined up for it - South Park, Gilmore Girls, Signing Time, B. Original and others that I kinda grab when I feel like it..I erase a lot of shows that I record as well, I tend to only record them in case I'm not there to watch them...like when I'm upstairs on the computer and not by a tv...we need to bring our big tv up here - but then I'm not the one carrying a heavy tv up the stairs, so I don't mention it...15 steps...heavy objects...

Its going to be cooling off and raining a lot over the next few days...or so they say...at least it feels more like Fall than Summer..it was 90 yesterday again..not that i'm complaining, I see that some places are getting snow dustings - yeehaw...!

I feel like knitting...

This is my favorite place for stuff:

They have a ton of flavors, and their ready-made melt-and-pour type lip balm is wonderful if you don't want to be bothered with measuring and having to come up with more storage for a new hobby. :) Lip balms and lotions aren't so tricky to measure, but when you start making CP soap, it's crucial.

I just looked up Martha's instructions online, and I find it very interesting that she calls for adding citrus EO's without mentioning that they can cause photosensitivity...

Hi, Donna-
I've made my own lip balm, and it's fun. I'm more the "experimental" type, too-- I just use beeswax and oil (olive, grapeseed, etc.)--slightly more oil than beeswax, and a couple drops of essential oil, if I want. I add more beeswax if it's hot out, more oil if it's cold. Heat and stir over *low* heat until the beeswax melts. I probably have a recipe somewhere if you'd like it.

You can get most of the ingredients at a good health food store. Also, Mountain Rose Herbs (mountainroseherbs.com) in Oregon is a wonderful mail order source. Yum!

Have fun, and let me know if you'd like that recipe. -Stina M.
