Ow! Mah Back!

Yeah, are ya wonderin' why I've been so quiet the past few days? I've tied up my back muscles...I did this about 5 years ago, and since then, everything has been fine...granted, I had to go to the emergency room and get muscle relaxers last time, something I haven't done this time - yet...It seems to be my mind doing this to me...although I did walk the dog while Brian was out of town and I was walking too fast...I could feel my back hurting for a few days, then Friday morning, while taking a shower, I could feel the exact moment my back seized up...Its better, but not great...I've started taking Advil, which helps with the pain, but after it wears off, all the badness returns...I end up waking up at 3:30am and staying awake the rest of the night...i guess tonight I'll keep the Advil next to the bed...

anyway, I'm able to sit for awhile, and I've got the kiln firing up, so I'm gonna give it a whirl...who knows, I might end up with massively wonky beads...ha!

So, since we were out and about all day Saturday (and yes, it was painful to get in and out of the car), we stayed home and I watched Tiger Woods win his 13th championship...pretty groovy...I don't enjoy golf unless Tiger is winning...typical, huh...

Stay inside, stay outta the heat, enjoy your summer day and know that school is coming back soon...Target is loaded w/ supplies and you can noticably see more traffic in Austin with the college kids coming back this month...50,000 students (plus teachers, support staff, etc) invade Austin and the traffic goes nuts...they used to nearly run over us when we lived near campus...it was crazy!

Sorry about your back, Donna! Back spasms are just awful. If you haven't already, try a Thermacare patch. I use the neck and shoulder ones - with the adhesive, you can put it exactly where you need it. HTH!

Hi Donna, my husband is an acupuncturist, he has helped me many times with back problems...haven't had trouble in years now. We're in Oregon or else I'd invite you to try it!
Hope it gets better soon!

The ThermaCare patch is really good. I'm having back pain since I am 14 (which means a while now) and I never found anything that really worked for me until I tried the ThermaCare patch.
Costco have it for a better price than drugstores....
Hope you'll feel better soon!

thanks for all the comments and emails, they actually DO help me, seeing as how I really don't ever need medical care and as such, have no medical knowledge...i think the Advil is the only thing I have in my medicine cabinet...sad, I know, but I just rarely get sick or injured...and even when I do, I don't like taking meds - they tend to not help...I'm actually surprised that the Advil is making a difference, but it is...when I had my wisdom teeth taken out, the heavy duty meds they gave me did nothing to help...I don't have much faith in over-the-counter solutions, but I do appreciate your suggestions and will seek out these patches and will continue with the Advil, as Tracey told me its good to reduce the inflamation...I never even thought of that...I am amazed that pills know where to go in the body to fix the pain...smart little creatures in tiny flying machines head off to the parts that are beeping and flashing red w/ large arrows pointing to the sore spots...kinda like the Beetlejuice's model...
