if you are a Harry Potter fan and have plenty of time to kill, visit Scholastic's website and play the trivia 'wizards challenge' game. lots of hard questions. i guess i don't retain what I read. We are ready for tonight's party - 10:00pm-midnight and probably even later! we've already strategized our parking plans, so we don't have to fight all the other mom's and 12 year old and their mini-vans. we plan to park down the street and walk to the event. i hope that is a good plan...

i made a fish last night, and he's a little guy - about the size of a regular bead. it started out as a bead, then an experiment and finally i just flattened it and made it into a fish the way Sharon Peter's does when things aren't going right. he came out not too badly- looks like a fish and no fins broke off. I like how tiny he is compared to other fish I've made that are enormous. too big to wear, too heavy. this one is 'just right'. i'm heading out to take some pics for Corina who said she needs yet more photos, so I'll try to get a good one of the fishy too..

well, the baby bird survived - at least I hope he did. I picked him up and put him in a box to relax, and then set him in the nursery behind our house. plenty of coverage and trees and grasses to hide out in. I researched what to do on line and found that he might be learning how to fly - and that I shoudln't have disturbed him. Well, with the cats closing in fast, had I not done something, he'd a been a goner for sure.

Speaking of which, later yesterday morning, i looked out our window and just below our bird feeders was an enormous pile of feathers. No, not from our little injured friend, more than likely from a dove who didn't know that standing still wasn't very good camouflage. i dunno who the culprit was, but someone got a snack.

made another blackberry cobbler from our blackberry trip the other day. gave some to our neighbors next door who are nice enough to mow our front lawn when they mow theirs. what a deal. In Tx, in the summer, its just awfully hot to be mowing and to come home and see people mowing and edging your yard is pretty sweet, indeed. deserved some blackberry cobbler, dontcha think?

My Silver Challenge (see column to left) has finally been posted on Corina's site. Not that that means anything right now, her silver publication won't be out until next month some time. But you can still see all the other very interesting silvered beads shown. All the beads have some sort of silver on them, except Dodies' who ARE silver wire! silly girl! there are a lot of pics and it may take a while for them to load. i had to leave the page and come back before half of them would even appear.

I'm ready to go stand in line NOW for the next Potter book. how pathetic does that make me? With my luck, i'll be in line and they'll run out. ha.

We are taking care of a friend's kitties this weekend while she's away. they look so much like our kitties when they were little - a sold gray and a striped gray. She named them Izzy and Iris and they are pretty cute! Brian is going to take some pics of them, i'll post them so you can see.

Thanks for the orders and inquiries about the Striped Summer beads. I just bought a striped tote for the summer and these beads would look perfect to wear with them. hint hint!

anyone have any ideas how to rehab an injured baby bird? there's nothing like going out to mow the lawn and finding your cats huddling around something. you know that's trouble! well, i now have in my possession a tiny baby bird. i can't tell if it's injured or not, but its not flying well...guess i need to make some phone calls...

more frogs are popping out of my kiln lately. and my beads have started breaking from their bead release. i think its the weather, but i don't know. i love the release that i use, and don't want to switch, but having perfectly good beads go bad because they broke from the mandrel is really unfortunate...rats.

brian is playing around w/ my site, adding a moveable type blog and working on CSS. dunno when it'll all be implemented, you'll just be surprised to see it one day...

today is etching day - i'm going to do some masking and etch some dichro beads similar to some in the Beads of Glass book. will get pics once the work is complete.

have been making some beads for an upcoming exchange, am only about half way thru with them (only have to do 13, which isn't bad). have just been dragging my feet...

today is home work day. meaning i'm working on projects around the house like hanging curtains. i still need some pieces before completing the mission -i need finials for the curtain rods and i'm getting ready to go iron the curtains before hanging them up. don't hold your breath! We visited the PotteryBarn outlet store on Saturday and found a daybed that is originally $850.00 (999.00 with trundle) for a whopping $149.99 (35.99 trundle). It has no hardware, and the trip to Home Depot didn't provide any assistance, so the thing is in pieces in our garage. but eventually it'll be a functioning bed and we'll have paid next to nothing for it. we are really tickled...

yes, its been a few days since i've been here - i've been busily making beads and my brother has been visting since Thursday, so we've been catching up. its been a couple of years since his last visit.

is everyone ready and excited about this coming Friday (and Saturday)...Harry Potter 5 is on it's way. I'm excited, even if no one else is...i'll be there at midnight to snatch up my copy and spend next weekend reading it. I need to know what happens before the stupid media start giving away all the good details. rumour has it a main character dies, and I don't want to be told by some dork on Fox News about it.

things are quiet here while i take a break from shows.

We went blackberry picking yesterday and had a great time. Made a cobbler last night and it's almost gone - we had friends over and they helped us dive into it. I have enough berries for two more cobblers, plus extras! didn't take long to pick about 7lbs of berries, about half what we bought before - still it was $15.00 and we thought that was plenty!

I hear that the Bead and Button show was great, I'm sorry that I missed it, but I'm sure it was a lot of fun. Eventually I'll make it to those events...we had a good time at our Gay Pride festival - saw all sorts of interesting people and shirts that declared funny slogans - "I'm not gay but my girlfriend is" and "boobs, not bombs". those are some of the tame ones...overall we had a good time.
