Did I mention that we picked up our new Civic Hybrid on Monday? It gets a whopping 48 miles/gallon - 650 miles to the tank...Its our first 4-seater vehicle, something we were needing for a LONG time, and now with Lady, we especially need it...Its a neat little car that goes entirely quiet when you come to a stopsign...it feels like the car has shut off..kinda weird, but Brian is getting a kick out of it - every time we come to a sign, he says 'hey, the car shut off, whaddya we do?...heh heh heh..' I think he's getting a kick out of it, since he's doing most of the driving in it...Today we're taking it in to get the windows tinted - who doesn't have tinted windows in Texas (its gonna be 110 w/ the heat index today, we need tinted windows)...
The car is white in color, and I referred to it as a 'green' vehicle and Brian looked at me and said 'but I thought we just said it was a white car'...oh yeah...I always seem to be 2 steps ahead of him in the cultural world...'green' as in 'good for the environment-green'...right, he says...
Ok, we're off to play with the car, back later...
UPDATED! Go see the new pics from B&B that I posted...
I finally got into my suitcase and actually emptied it this morning and found a bunch of stuff that I brought home...things I've already forgotten about, how funny is that...out of sight...I have to go to the PO and pick up anything that might be lurking since I've been gone, and then I'll get the pics posted later this afternoon...
I am so pleased, things are getting back to normal, I've cleaned up the shipping area and spent 8 hours in the studio yesterday just getting the table back in order..its almost done..I really don't like working in a messy environment although what I consider 'neat' might frighten some folks...
So now that I'm making headway, that's getting me closer to getting back on the torch..booya...
Lady is settling in nicely, we still have her quarantined until all her meds are taken, and until we get to do the 'go home' visit from the trainer which has been moved to tomorrow night...plus I'd feel better about having her muzzled when it comes time to meet the cats, just for safety sake...But she's very happy, I spend loads of time with her, we go outside and chase the tennis ball, she rolls around on her back asking for tummy scratches and she's quite the 'velcro' Dobie - constantly stuck to my side...Katie told me the trick of hiding a pill in a piece of American cheese and boy does that work well! Giving dogs medicine is SO much easier than giving it to cats...
Oh yeah, I took another class on Sunday and made a neat new 'freeform' wire choker..actually I've made 2 - one that's longer and one that's an acutal choker..I'll get those posted too...they take no time at all and look very 'artsy' like you spent a ton of money on them...well, if the beads are expensive I guess you could spend a ton on them, but you don't have to...I made one with polymer beads and the total cost was about $40...will post it for ya later...
Off to the PO, back soon...
Oh Yeah...! My beadbuddy Jennifer asked me why I hadn't mentioned anything about the Tour yet...I've been keeping my eye on it quietly, and good grief its about to start! Time to get on the ball and in the saddle...July 2-24 is the Tour this year, it moves Clockwise around France and is Lance's last professional race and Tour...so it's gonna be a nailbiter for sure...He's put together a super fantastic team for the flats and mountains, two of his members have won major tours this year, so they'll be helping the 'old guy' haul himself up the mountain..ha...right...he could bike up backwards faster than I could walk it forwards...I'll be putting the link to OLN on my site like last year and will be offering beadsets in honor of the Tour again...
I watched a Discovery Channel (their new sponsor) program last night called the 'Science of Lance Armstrong' and it was all about how he's built differently, processes lactic acid easier and gets more from each breath than a 'normal' human being..no wonder he keeps winning..He's the Bionic Man!
3:15pm Ready!! - The page is posted and there are links galore to keep you plenty busy...
2:00pm I've got pics ready, now I'm working on the captions...Come back and see what I have - and what's cooler is this isn't all of it, so I'll have more to show in a few days..(need to track the other stuff down, who knows where it went?)...
I think its time for some B&B Show and Tell, don't you? Things have settled down a bit with Lady, and I feel comfortable taking her in and out while snapping pics of my schwag...I doubt I'll be able to get it all posted today, so I'm just gonna jump in and get started and get done what I can...at least you don't have to look at my freaky fingers any more!!
Is this not the funniest thing you've ever seen? I love NY and the wackos that live there...I want to be a NY wacko too!!
You know, I've always thought KMcK was just the grooviest thing on the planet...she's 'out there' not afraid to speak her mind, she knows what's going on and she's also a most fabulous artist...I was lucky enough to meet her at B&B and she had the cahoongas to call ME a 'rock star'...Please!...SHE's the rock start in this relationship...but regardless, I just visited her website and checked her Links section (no, I'm not there, boo, but I'll get over it) and what do I find? A link to James Spader...how does she know? James Spader is the one actor that I could be found stalking, if I ever had the energy or desire to get up and stalk anyone ever...is he not the coolest thing ever? sex, lies and videotape put him on my radar and tho I don't watch his tv show (yeah, so sue me) I still think he rocks...
and apparently so does Kate...the only thing that would be cooler is if her new house in Pac Grove was down the street from him, or she was related to him or went to high school with him...sigh...not many actors can make me stay up late to catch them on a talk show, but he's the guy...
So Brian has Lady out in the truck today..she's been going to the locked truck, and trying to climb into the cab..last night I put the tailgate down and we spent some time in the bed, just hanging out...she must love to go for rides..so they are out picking up bird food for me...I'm reading my 'Dog Whisperer' book and TiVoing the Dog Whisperer on tv, so eventually I'll be full of dog knowledge...last night she ran around the yard as fast as she could, burning off steam...she hit my arm and leg a few times and gave me some bruises/gashes, but they look worse than they are...i remembered to play 'ole' with her - when she charges, just step aside at the last minute and she'll run past...she needed to unload that energy and it was fun to watch her run...
Our gulf fritilary butterflies are hatching like crazy..so far today 6 (!) have come out of their cocoons...its been great..i snagged some pics..they play 'tag' with each other and flitter around heavily until they go over the fence on their new journeys...we still have a few caterpillars left to grow big, fat and turn..so our job isn't done yet...its kinda like Charlotte's web with butterflies...
Yep it is Girardia (sp?) and I don't mean to sound so freaked, I'm actually feeling rather good today...I finally got some sleep. We've determined that Lady does not like being caged and until I can teach her that it's ok, we're gonna keep her out so she doesn't have a meltdown..I'd rather keep her happy than make her neurotic by locking her up if she can't handle it right now...So, we moved a bed into the studio do I could sleep with her, and she just took over the bed, and I let her...eventually the bed will be removed and she's going to have to sleep in her own bed, but for now, while she's still confused and figuring out what's going on, I'd rather keep her calm and happy than upset and anguished....The girardia will be under control, we are cleaning her bowls, giving her chicken/rice and the meds...and since she's quarrantined, the cats can have free roam of the house and that's good..mostly I just keep moving from one part of the house to the other, taking my phone and keys with me as I go, bottles of water, blah blah..I'm in the studio 90% during the day anyway, so its no big deal..Lady is actually doing great and I'm very calm and talk to her and play with her, so its much quieter here now than it was...I just needed some rest so i could get my footing again..I can handle a LOT of stuff, its just when I'm exhausted that I start to have minor meltdowns...but its all good now...no barking, no crying last night, lots of walking and talking, and even right now she's sleeping on the bed and seems happy...just thought you'd want to know :)
Things are settling down here a bit, if you can call it that...Lady spent the day at the vet yesterday and she has a highly contagious parasite in her intestines, so we've quarrentined her in the studio where the cats won't catch it..apparently WE can catch it too, so its constant washing of hands/arms and food/water bowls, etc. etc...taking off clothes, washing, wearing old stuff, etc...Pepto and Immodium pills, specialty liquids, special shampoo, does the fun never end...? we think she prob caught this at the vet's office where she was being treated for ringworm..poor kid...we bought cans of food that is primarily chicken and rice, and i'll be cooking some up for her as well...should take about 10 days to treat her and get her back to health..She seems fine otherwise...
Oh, we need to go for a walk, I'll be back shortly...ok, back...
why do walks have to be so freakin' dangerous? we were doing fine, then up came a dog that wasn't on a leash...a dobie looking dog, but I have no idea who it is..I had to turn around and go the other way, and of course it followed us...finally I yelled 'go home' and it turned around..Normally loose dogs don't bother me but 1. I don't know Lady well enough to know how she'll react (she nearly killed a dog she lived with previously, so that's a bit of a concern) 2. I don't have the commands yet to get her to do what I want. 3. I don't have a big stick to beat any dogs off of her (not that I'd want to, but without a bond and commands, we're kinda a loose gun here)...I wish folks who owned dogs would keep them inside and not out loose..or at least fenced in (a lot of them are, which I appreciate, as I'm sure they woudln't want to see Lady coming toward them if they were out walking either)..
So, what does 'getting back to normal' mean? Well, now that Lady is quarrantined to the studio, I'm out here more and hope to get some stuff done, like get pics up of the stuff from B&B, and this weekend Brian will entertain her, so I can hopefully get some beads made...I'm gonna give it a try, anyway...
Once again I ask for help and you come through with amazingly great info...I've got LOTS of things to read, reference and watch from your recommendations...The National Geographic show "Dog Whisperer" was mentioned many times, so he must be a winner...ironically, I caught a part of his show on Monday night and he definitely looked like he knew what he was doing...Brian brought home a great bed, more bones and toys and new collars for her last night...BUT, she has a case of diahrrea and had to be taken to the vet this morning...it started yesterday during my afternoon walk, and it hasn't cleaned up...she soiled her crate last night and barked thru the night till Brian was good enough to get up at 4:00 and discover it...
he cleaned her up, took her out for a walk and put her back in (and she's getting reluctant to get into the crate now, great) but she was quiet for the rest of the night...So last night was not an easy sleep night for any of us yet again...He took her to the vet in his truck and i finally got some sleep after 7:00am...We haven't heard from the vet yet to know what's wrong with her...she seems fine, and we haven't changed her diet (that we know of - same Flint River that the obedience group was feeding her) but she had a short stay at another vet for a ringworm treatment and maybe they fed her something different...or maybe its nerves? we'll find out today...
So, while I have a reprieve from Lady, I'm gonna get some laundry done, refill the cat food bowls, let the cats play (you should see Clem in the new dog bed with the large bones that are bigger than she is - its hilarious - she acts like its her 'fort'), and just kinda clean up the place...AND read some more info so I can get a hand up on what's going on...What I'm really grateful to hear is that ya'll have experienced a lot of the same thing and have survived it, so I know it'll get better...Its not that we want to get rid of Lady, we just feel like we're flying w/out any instructions or knowledge of what to do...its not quite like having a cat and its been 20 years since I've had a dog, so I have some catching up to do...
Well, we've taken the Dog plunge and have adopted a rescue Doberman...Her name is 'Lady' (just like my old Dobie) and she's about 3..found as a stray, the Doberman Rescue took her in and have been looking out for her...I must admit since not having a dog for a long time, this one is a handful...Obviously our house is CAT friendly, so we're having to find things for Lady to do to keep her occupied...Mostly she just wants to hang out with us and keep us from doing anything productive...Today is our first full day with her, we picked her up yesterday afternoon and I haven't slept well at all...While Lady used to live with 3 cats, and seemed fine with them, she's already barked at Bagheera (through a glass door) twice and we have the rest of the family corded off in various bedrooms in the house...
She's been to obedience training and knows commands, but we haven't had the 'home visit' with the trainer yet, and we don't want to confuse her with new commands/rewards, so mostly its a lot of pushing her down off the sofa and keeping a bone in front of her at all times to keep her occupied...3 years old is pretty rambunctious, good grief...We have a month to see if she fits in well, and if at any time we have to turn her back in, she'll go back to the rescue group...We don't WANT to turn her back in, we just want her to settle down and behave...We're hoping that with some routine in her world that she will not be so crazy, but we just don't know yet...
That being said, I'm gonna do my best to crate her at times during the day so I can get some work done..I really wanted this to be a smooth transition, and I think I just need to give it some time..Right now my stomach is queasy from worry, exhaustion and just plain confusion...I need to do some research on all this...if you're a smart dog-person, give me some ideas or places to visit on the web for help...so I can get back to work!! thanks gang!
Yessiree, I got back in about midnight, stayed up to unwind and think about the entire week I just spent in complete and total JOY AND BLISS! (have you ever built up a trip, only to be disappointed when you finally took it? not this one, sista - this trip ROCK-ED in every way, shape and form)...I WILL have pictures, wahoo never fear..I WILL have stories, I WILL have shout outs to those who I met and those who I was told said nice things about me to other folks in my gang of beadchiks...I have super COOL class projects, I LOVED every one of the classes (all 6 of them) that I signed up for..no duds in the bunch, not a one...BUT...BUT...BUT...
the reason I am not updating all this goodness and joy for your RIGHT NOW is that I'm in the middle of bringing a new family member home and we are scrambling to go and get her...we were told it'd be another week before we could get her, but surprise, she's ready to go today, so we're making room here...I'll have more info for ya once we're all settled, so come back later tonight and see what all the hoopla is all about...its non-stop right now, and I hope things will be a bit more quiet the next few days (except we are picking up a new hybrid at the end of the week - super COOL on that too!) so there's just no telling what wacky and weird stuff will be going on over the next few days..
HOWEVER, that being said, I am BACK and ready to get on the TORCH..tra la, yes I am...I am recharged, I am ready to work, I have some goals that I've set and things I want to do...and I'll be asking for your suggestions and ideas along the way, so feel free to leave me input and comments/emails as you see fit...I have no more trips scheduled, and classes only later in the year, so the next few months should be work work work and beads beads beads...Can you stand it? I knew you could...dig it sistas, its all happenin' right now...I think I need to sit down and have a drink of water..whew! Rock on!!
Yep, its that time..I've been busily getting errands done, trying to get everything shipped (most everything is gone, still have a couple of plant stakes left to ship), and doing loads o'laundry, packing and probably forgetting something very important...I did get the beads completed for my Sandblasting class, I dusted off the Ott Light that I haven't used in years and found some earplugs for my riveting class...I think I'm ready...
Thought I'd leave you with a few of my kids to keep you company...As you can see, Dex was a magnet for the other kitties, everyone loved Dex...and Clem was hunting squirrels, but so far she's 0-8 in the capture department..I'm not sure who would be capturing who in that battle..I could see the squirrel scrambling up a tree with Clem on its back, being taken to the Super Secret Squirrel HideOut, never to be heard from again...See ya'll in a few...
I rarely go shopping for clothes...I don't enjoy it, I don't like to spend money on it, and I don't really NEED clothes, since I work from home and wear shorts and sandals everyday...but since I'll be 'among the public' next week, I thought I ought to look halfway decent...So Mick came over last night and we hit the store...She cruised the place, flinging pants and shirts over the door while I did my best to keep everything tried on, separated and flung back for return...I like to try and mix and match my clothes so they go farther, so there were a lot of tanktops and camp shirts bought last night...loads of orchid, fuchsia, aqua, red, lime and a little black and brown...and wouldn't you know it - after coming home and looking thru what I bought - I am going back this morning for more!
I think I need some more neutrals, plus I just had so much fun that I want to recapture it, although it'll be a feeble attempt with me being alone (Mick has to work - boo)...But she taught me a lot and I'm all charged up again..I USED to know how to shop, but if you aren't in practice, you lose it...I think the last time I bought stuff was like 3 years ago, maybe more..i'm still wearing those shorts..so today I'm gonna try and replace those as well...and its about time...I feel weird in my new jeans and shirt today, like I'm wearing someone else's clothes that I borrowed while visiting their house or something...Mick kept trying to get me into some 'cleavage' clothes, but I resisted..no one wants to see my cleavage entering a room 10 min before I do, at least I wouldn't...AND - 'the IT color' in the stores - Aqua and Cocoa! I guess I kinda knew it was popular, but I hadn't seen it everywhere until last night...so I think I need to make me a strand of 'Dig It' beads before I leave, huh...I'm still working on homework for my classes, Mick whisked me away and I never got back to the torch last night, so I'll be working again today...AFTER I go get some more 'in' colors...I'll be the blinking neon fashionista at B&B, look for me if you dare go...maybe a new purse too...hmmm...where's that Visa...
Alrighty- beads be sold, thanks for the bids, ya'll are groovy tunes...Hey speaking of, you should pick up the latest Paul Anka release 'Rock Swing'..he does hard core rock w/ a 'Frank Sinatra' feel to it - its kinda like playing 'Name That Tune'..who ever heard Nirvana or Van Halen in such a smoooooth way...so fine...
I posted a 'suspence' photo of these a few days back - and I've got 12 beads in the set ready to go...I was hoping to either a)have more for a good PIckings day or B)Put this up on eBay, but time has run out, I'm leaving and I could use a bit of cash for this trip...I know some of you will crinkle your noses at this - but I'm offering this set as a 'mini auction' on my site...if you're interested, send me your price by 5:00pm today and we'll go from there..I dunno if anyone out there is even interested in buying my beads anymore -its only been about a hundred years since I've had anything to offer...so if its just a ghost town out there, that's completely understandable too!
thanks for all your wellwishing on my trip and preparation...I've got a sorta-plan that should get me what I need, but I'm also really good at winging stuff and playing it by ear, so if I forget something, ah well, it'll just make for an interesting story.."so I got to my class, and I completely forgot to bring my tools..."
Now that class has wrapped up, I'm focusing on B&B...I leave next Tuesday and guess what - am I ready? Heck no! I have beads to make for a sandblasting class, beads to make for a project we'll be doing in the hotel room at night, tools for each class (must find those lists), beads to take for swapping/trading/selling (yep, a little covert action might be going on, who knows!), and I probably should buy a few new clothes since I live in tshirts and shorts- that'd look kinda tacky at a convention, right?
I'm making a list, checking it twice, adding to it as things come to my mind (must take bracelets to wear too!)...Oh, is there nothing like procrastination to get your stomach flipping and head worrying? I wonder if I'll get any sleep tonight...guess I won't be reading any Harry Potter for the next week...I'll be back to update, but probably sporadic as I get my ducks in a row...busy busy busy...
We went to Bluemoon yesterday to pick up some tools and glass - I bought 6 full rods of Pea Green and accidentally dropped them (they had been wrapped and taped, tho)..it was interesting when I unwrapped them at home - I have 40 little rods now..d'oh! But Jim and Rose were great to talk to and Kristine, my student, was able to give them lots of good info about Sedona Arizona since she's from Phoenix...they are heading to Sedona this weekend on their Harley's...sounds like a groovin' good time!
Today we wrap up class with fuming, reduction stringer and other various silver experiments...should be fun...B&B is right around the corner...I need to make beads for the sandblasting class and get my other tools rounded up!
Time for more teaching today...we're gonna do florals, a frog and some nicely ended tube beads...that's all I know for now...enjoy your Tuesday...
Now that the 6th book is coming out next month, I'm spending more time reading websites and keeping up with the craziness that surrounds the release parties..Last year we were at the local bookstore at midnight, in the heat and humidity, watching fire dancers, magicians and folks in costume, just to pick up Book 5...THIS year, I've pre-ordered the book, but I don't think I'll be doing the release party...But I did find this fun website that had all these really cute HP license plates...We only get 6 letters and no symbols here in Texas (no plus sign or number sign like in Canada), so I'd have to be really inventive in my plate...
Garden stakes were taken to the PO this morning by Brian, so be on the lookout for LONG white tubes and gooey chocolate that I put into Ziploc bags so it wouldn't mess up your goodies...
I am happy to say that if you purchased a Garden Stake, it is packaged, posted and ready to be dropped off at the Post Office tomorrow...I ended up going to 2 different Office Depot/Max stores to get 12 tubes, and I was almost hit about a dozen times getting to both stores which are only about a mile from my house...what is going on with driving? Good grief...But I made it home safe, organized all the stakes by name and number (printed out the pics so I could match them up) and spent the day watching Jewelry and Knitting while getting them packaged...whew...
I bought this cool new toy at Target - a Bug Vacuum...like a mini dust buster, you can target a bug and suck him up so you can view him, or in my case, just get him out of the way...I get bugs in the studio from the doors/windows being open, cats coming and going, etc...I don't like the jumping spiders, do they bite? I always heard they did...I'd rather vacuum them and relocate them..I don't like squishing bugs, I'm a 'relocater' - take them outside and let nature handle them...(food for birds perhaps?)...So I'll have to show you some of the groovy creatures I vacuum in the coming weeks...
The next 3 days I'm teaching my final class (final scheduled class - i'm taking a teaching hiatus for a few months while the weather is just so dang hot)so I'll be here and there, but not on the torch or the computer much...send me emails, leave me comments, you know what to do...THEN, I leave for B&B on the 14th and its gonna be a rockin' time..I'll prob take my camera and computer...I hope to see ya'll there if you're going...This is my first, but I doubt it'll be my last...the bead world is really going bonkers now a days, isn't it? kinda scary, actually...
Ok, here you can see the results from last night's class- I started making a bracelet and my friend Mick talked me into making a necklace - and I like it, but the beads are kinda lost in it...I think the fibers are great with the beads, but that they should be strung separately so you can get the full impact of them...which is why I'm already re-tinkering in my little head.
The necklace is a little short, so I made the silver chain extender (seen on the misc page w/ the fuzzy bracelet) and put a single bead on it as a charm...that allows the chain to drape behind my neck, so you can get the 'full impact' of the necklace when I'm wearing it...I don't typically wear big bright fuzzy necklaces - they look out of place with tshirts and shorts...haha...
Today's goal is to get the Garden Stakes packaged and shipped...that's gonna be interesting, but hopefully fun...
Last night's class was a ton of fun, the Fuzzy Bracelet we made is macramed, so its a whole new technique (if you can call macrame new) from the Fuzzy Tutorial that's posted on this site...I made a necklace last night (gotta be the odd one in the group, right) and this morning I made a matching bracelet - that's too big! it falls off my wrist..rats...so I just fed the toggle through another bracelet on my wrist and that's the only thing keeping it from falling off my arm..oh well, I tried..I'll probably wear it to Bead and Button and then come home and deconstruct it all so it fits properly...I tend to do that - my stringing is not an exact science cause I'll measure *some* things but not everything...and then I pay for it in the end...
Sorry for taking so long to get this posted, its been kinda non-stop here since DVR man came and went..Nancy stopped by w/ her son Ben to pick up beads, then I had to water my sad plants so they didn't die, then I had to go to the dealership and sign some papers (ooo..ooo...)and now I'm finally home and its quiet until I leave for class tonight..Brian and I are truly passing each other today - he's in San Antone and when he gets home, I'll be gone..i bet we see each other about 30 min today at most...heh...
So...the Bead Fairy left a rather unusual bead that i've dubbed the "Teddy Bear" bead because of its slight resemblence to an outline of a teddy bear..Inspired by, but not copied from Janice Peacock's beads she uses as her clasps for her Sprout bracelet (actually the teddy bear bead was something I did to help the edges of the bead when the wings were too big, I just clipped them, but they look like I copied Janice when I wasn't trying to, but you know how the whole 'copying controversy' can get wacky - just wanted to clear this up - I didn't copy her bead on purpose!)...I like these as a bracelet or necklace on their own and I have ideas to do them in neutrals like my English Tweed series- cocoa, grey, black, etc...very chi-chi-chic indeed...
I dunno if anyone is interested in these beads, if so, email me and lemme know...i haven't set a price cause they are kinda time intensive and I dunno what you're willing to pay for them...So "Let's Make a Deal"...rock on my Bead Sistas...
Yes, its true, I'm finally coming into the 'age of technology'...no longer am I using the telegraph to send messages, no longer is the Pony Express arriving at my home with deliveries, no longer do I have to crank up the Model T to motor into town and buy my flour sacks and sarsparilla...Yes folks, i'm getting 'TiVo' capability this morning and I'm tickled...now lets see if I'll actually USE it...hmmmm..
We went tire kicking last night, checking out the new Hybrid-style cars..there are no Prius' in Austin of course - they have a huge waiting list...so we hit the nearby Honda dealership and tried out a Civic Hybrid...VERY nice...its not flashy, but it fits our 3 needs - its INexpensive, it seats 4 people and it gets SUPER gas mileage (650 miles to one tank!)...They have a dozen or so coming in over the next month, so we're gonna put our names on 'the list' and see if we can snag a white one...Our truck has nearly 100K miles on it, and with Brian having to go to San Antone once a week, I don't want the thing to fall apart...Over the next couple of years there will be a LOT more hybrids coming out, so keep an eye out...a $2000 tax break from the IRS for buying this car is pretty nice too...
I need to poke in the kiln and see what the bead fairy left for me and if its even useful...back soon...
You can see a new pic of ALL the Fuzzy Bracelet beads I've made the past 2 days, just click the main pic to the left... <---
also, 3 new Garden/Plant stakes are in the RFP page...enjoy!
I'm happy to be making beads again, even though I'm going slowly...I made more yesterday, and the kiln is firing up right now and its only 9:30! I am enjoying the colors that I pulled for this set, I typically use only a few colors in each set, but this one offers a lot of possibilities...lots of color combos...I still need to finish that Aqua and Cocoa set from the other day, the stringer and rods are just pushed aside while and I'll get back to those soon...I love those colors...
I've already watered the flowers and read a weekly column on E!Online that keeps me up to date on all the dish going on in Hollywood...Like I didn't know Lance and Sheryl Crow were having issues, did you? And please - what is with all this nonsense about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes? Publicity stunt - movies coming out this summer...I sound cynical, but I'm not stupid...whatever...so I don't read the Inquirer or People, but I do read Entertainment Weekly and some other 'inside' sites that keep me up to date in a rather 'read between the lines' kind of way...
So this is what I made yesterday...The top and bottom strands are done on 1/8" mandrels so that plenty of fuzzy yarn and beadalon will fit through them..the middle strand are the 'normal' beads, I thought they'd be cute as the dangles...I was trying out new shapes, new color combos, etc...I've found that I like layering a lot of colors on beads now a days, so that its more interesting...are you collecting fuzzy yarns to make your own bracelets?...I've got a nice stash thanks to Mandy and Lydia as well as a few trips to Hobby Lobby on my own...heh...
Wasn't it just Christmas a few weeks ago? gee...this year is flying by...I was just in Italy - and now the second trip is already here (not doing this one, but I wanted to)...B&B is right around the corner, THAT will be a fun and interesting time...I'm lookin' forward to it, and meeting lots of groovy folks...
I'm trying something 'new' - not turning the tv on until 5:00pm...I used to do that ages ago, then I started watching tv during the day and found I wasn't very productive...SO, yesterday was my 'return to the past' and i made 18 beads and another garden stake...much better...I thought I could keep the tv on as background noise, but alas I can't...HOWEVER, I've finally ordered TiVo (yes, I've been living in the dark ages, according to my friends who've wondered how I could be living in 'high-tech' Austin and not have this wonder gadget...). Its arriving Friday morning and I should be able to grab any Jewelry/Knitting/Crafting shows that I want, and watch them in the evening or weekends when only Paid Programming or Charles Bronson marathons are on...so I can get caught up when I want to...very sweet...will keep you up to date on if this is a good idea for me or not...
